The Gentleman Violinist
Hello, I'm James Dickenson.
I’ve been playing the violin professionally for more than 30 years, in concert halls, recording studios and theatres around the world. But there is something particularly special about playing at a wedding.
Because on a wedding day, music isn't simply entertainment. It becomes attached to a moment.
A piece of music can bring somebody into the room, accompany a glance across the aisle, or become part of a memory that stays with a family for years.
That's really why I created The Gentleman Violinist.
Music has taken me to some extraordinary places. I've performed at Carnegie Hall and the Library of Congress, toured with Sting, recorded for film and television, led professional string quartets and orchestras, and recorded at Abbey Road — including playing on Ed Sheeran's Perfect.
It's been a wonderful career, which continues but these days I particularly enjoy bringing all of that experience into much more intimate occasions.
The Signature Bespoke Experience
Music should not simply be in the background. For couples who want the music to feel completely personal to their wedding.
I work with you to create the musical journey through your ceremony and wedding breakfast, curating the repertoire around the two of you and creating bespoke arrangements where appropriate.
Usually £1,595 — currently £1,195 for weddings booked before 30 September.
